Labour Party leadership crisis targeted at Obi, Datti – Labour Party PCC

The Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council’s spokesperson, Yunusa Tanko, has shed light on the ongoing leadership crisis within the party.

According to Tanko, the issue goes beyond the national chairman, Julius Abure, and is actually an attempt to hinder the party’s flagbearers, Mr Peter Obi and his vice, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed.

Tanko voiced his opinion on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, stating that those involved in the crisis should have followed the party’s constitution to resolve the matter internally, rather than creating chaos.

He pointed out that the constitution provides for the removal of the national chairman through a vote of no confidence by at least two-thirds majority of the national convention, solely convened for that purpose.

While awaiting the court’s verdict, Tanko emphasized that it is crucial for party members to adhere to the constitution and resolve the crisis internally.

He believes that this will prevent the issue from escalating further and hindering the party’s efforts to achieve its objectives.
