Anslem Eragbe, the suspended National Youth Leader of the Labour Party, on Thursday challenged his suspension by the party.
While speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme, monitored by POLITICS NIGERIA, Eragbe insisted that his suspension is illegal.
He claimed that he has not received any order from the party to step down.
“Let me say this quickly, we operate under the laws, there are things we shouldn’t be seen doing. I do not accept my suspension because it is illegal.
“I am the National Youth Leader but notwithstanding because of the appeals everywhere, this matter is being looked into within the party system and the stakeholders, they have appealed for calm,” Eragbe said.
In a piece of related news, Chimaobi Samuel Atu, the Labour Party candidate for Enugu North/South Federal Constituency in the 2023 general elections, has expressed his belief that the growing popularity of his party by Nigerians would change the political landscape of Enugu State which has since 1999 been controlled by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking in a recent interview with Sun News Online, Atu also warned against the suspension of the deployment of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the alleged campaign for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, to be sacked.
