Thaddeus Atta, a Member of the House of Representatives, representing Eti-Osa Federal Constituency in the 10th Assembly has hinted at his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Labour Party.
Atta, originally from Benue state, contested and won the seat under the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections.
The federal lawmaker was recently spotted wearing the signature cap of President Bola Tinubu, sparking rumours that he is about to join the APC.
The cap is mostly worn by supporters of Tinubu, prompting suggestions that Atta may have decided to join the president’s party.
The lawmaker shared the photos on his X page with the words: “We can only justify the confidence of our people by keeping faith with our duties.
“Let me once again thank my great people of Eti Osa Federal Constituency, for this privilege to serve. The task of good governance has begun.”
Despite the viral photo, Atta has not officially confirmed if he is moving to the APC or not.
Recall that several opposition federal lawmakers have moved to the ruling APC in recent months.
They include Hon Chris Nkwonta from Abia state who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, Hon Abubakar Gumi from Zamfara state who moved from the PDP to the APC and Hon Salman Idris from Kogi state who moved from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the APC.
