Lagos Govt Alerts AMVCA Participants On Possible Exposure To Coronavirus

The Lagos State Commissioner for health, Akin Abayomi, has alerted participants of the African Magic Viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) of the possibility of meeting with a confirmed coronavirus patient.

The seventh edition of AMVCA, an annual accolade presented by Multichoice recognizing outstanding achievement in television and film, held on March 14 at Eko Hotels in Lagos.

In a series of tweets, Abayomi advised all attendees to observe strict self-isolation.

“I hereby notify you that all participants at the African Magic Viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) held on14th March at @EkoHotels may have come in contact with one of the confirmed cases in Lagos and
are most likely to have been exposed to #COVID19 Infection,” the commissioner wrote on Twitter.

He, however, advised that attendees should call the emergency line if they notice any related symptoms. ” Attendees at the said event are therefore advised to:
:one:observe strict self- isolation.
:two: call our #TollFree line 08000corona if they notice any of the #COVID19 related symptoms
:three: Let’s #TakeResponsibility by practicing #SocialDistancing to prevent the spread of the virus.”
