Lagos Govt Announces Closure Of Marine Bridge For Six Months

The Lagos State government has announced the partial closure of Marine Bridge for repairs from Saturday, March 28, 2020, to Saturday, August 15, 2020.

According to the government, the repairs will take a duration of 20 weeks and will be done in two phases to ease traffic movements.

The state Ministry of Transportation made the announcement in a statement on Friday.

It disclosed that the construction works by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing will replace the worn-out elastomeric bearing, and expand the metallic joints on the bridge.

The statement noted that the first half of the construction works will last for the first 10 weeks, while the second half would commence equally and last for 10 weeks.

It added that the closure will start between 8.00am and 8.00pm daily to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted flow of the repair works.

The ministry, therefore, advised road users to comply with the traffic diversions in order to minimize inconveniences in movements, as they will be allowed to ply only the available sides of the roads while the construction works lasts.
