Ogun to ban unvaccinated residents from public places

The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has said that the state is planning to ban unvaccinated residents from public spaces such as offices, schools, markets, and public transport.

The governor also provided a 60-day ultimatum to unvaccinated residents to receive the COVID-19 vaccines.

“We are going to give a window to allow for this vaccination and that window starts from today (Monday) till the next 60 days,” Abiodun said.

“Anybody after 60 days that is not vaccinated will not be allowed in our offices and schools. Such person will not be allowed to do business with us. We will chase this person in our markets; you will be required to carry your vaccine cards with you at all time.”

Abiodun also noted that the State of Ogun had widened the reach of vaccine centres from 131 to 509 to ease vaccination access to all eligible residents.

“This is my vaccination card. If you don’t have a card like this, you will not come to our secretariat, we will not do business with you, we will not allow Okada to carry you, we will not allow taxis to carry you, you will not be allowed in our Market. We will enforce this card, to be forewarned is to be forearmed,” the governor added.

According to the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, a total of 5,684,939 Nigerians had been given the first dose of the vaccine, while 3,730,937 had received two doses.
