Investigation for the death of 12-year-old boy Sylvester Oromoni, who was allegedly beaten to death by his schoolmates after refusing to join a cult, continues. In a recent finding, it’s revealed that one of the students suspected of the bullying is Adewale Michael Kashamu, son of the late Senator Buruji Kashamu.
Following the revelation, the Kashamu family has been flooded with heavy pressures from the outside despite their willingness to cooperate with the investigation. The family then asked for a calm investigation.
“Since the news of the unfortunate incident broke, we have made our own private inquiries and carefully questioned our son about his involvement. This is why we did not rush out to respond to the cyberstalking, name-calling and negative commentaries that have taken over the social media about our son’s alleged involvement in this sad incident.”
The family later stated that the boy had no involvement in the death of Oromoni.
“Adewale Michael Kashamu is a compassionate and considerate boy. Sometime last session, some boys had been accused of beating Sylvester with belts and seizing his foodstuff but Adewale Michael Kashamu was not involved at all. He was in fact in sympathy with Sylvester over that incident.”
Due to the controversy sparked by Oromoni’s death, Dowen College has given its students a short break. “In view of the situation concerning the school and considering the emotions of our students we have advised that our students stay home tomorrow Friday 3rd and Monday 6th December 2021.”
