Lawmaker breaks silence over involvement in killing of Sokoto monarch

Sokoto State House of Assembly member representing Sabon Birni North Constituency, Aminu Boza, has strongly denied allegations linking him to the recent abduction and murder of Isa Bawa, the late District Head of Gatawa.

Boza, who has been accused by the son of the late Bawa of being involved in the plot, has refuted any connections to criminal activities or associations with bandits in the region.

He reiterated his commitment to the ongoing fight against banditry, emphasizing his dedication to restoring peace in the community.

In a statement, Boza declared, “I am declaring to the whole world that these allegations will never discourage me from fighting against banditry. As I have always said, we need to unite and eliminate these bandits to achieve lasting peace.”

The allegations surfaced after the son of the late district head, in a video recorded from his sickbed, claimed that the bandits who abducted and murdered his father confessed that Boza provided them with crucial information and paid them ₦5 million to carry out the kidnapping.

According to the son, the bandits also alleged that Boza supplied them with weapons during the campaign period.

“The bandits said in front of me that Aminu Boza was the one who gave them the guns to kidnap us,” the son alleged.

“They were given the weapons during the campaign period, and they told my father that they did not know him from anywhere but were paid ₦5 million to kidnap him.”

In response to these accusations, Boza released an audio statement, vehemently denying any involvement in criminal activities or collaboration with bandits. He pledged to continue his fight against banditry, even if it puts his life at risk.

“I understand that fighting the bandits will not be easy, but if it costs my life, I will be content knowing I did everything to satisfy my conscience,” Boza said.

“I would be proud to die fighting the bandits if it means we can rid our community of them and restore peace.”

The allegations and Boza’s denial have sparked widespread attention, as the region continues to grapple with the devastating impact of banditry.
