The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government of being behind the internal conflicts within their party and other opposition parties in Nigeria.
The claim was made by PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi.
“They are our problem. It is better for President Bola Tinubu and his party, the All Progressives Congress, to focus on their own party and leave the PDP alone.
All the efforts they are making to weaken the opposition, whether it is the PDP or other opposition parties, to ensure that in 2027 there are no presidential aspirants or candidates from other parties, will amount to nothing,” he told Punch.
He continued by expressing confidence that the PDP and other opposition groups could see through the ruling party’s intentions and would not be easily swayed.
Abdullahi further warned that the APC’s attempts to dismantle opposition ahead of the next general election would ultimately fail, asserting that the PDP was “wise enough to see beyond his [Tinubu’s] immediate interests.”
The PDP has been grappling with several internal crises, particularly following the fallout between key figures such as former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and the current Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Tensions have also flared within the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), where leadership disputes and state-level congress outcomes have been points of contention.
This internal discord, which some within the PDP have attributed to external influence, has left the party divided ahead of critical elections.
The PDP’s leadership, however, remains adamant that it will overcome these challenges and emerge stronger as the opposition party gears up for the next political cycle.
It is just a Foolish man that will allow his adversary to destroy his house. PDP should care of it house.
