Four staff of ZEFA Microfinance Bank, located at Abule Ijoko in Lemode Area of Ifo local government have been arrested over the death of a 50- year- old Vivian Omo, wife of one of their customers, POLITICS NIGERIA reports.
The Ogun state police command spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, made this known in a press statement made available to newsmen on Sunday in the state capital.
The statement said trouble commenced when the bank staffers visited the home of the deceased to ask for the payment of a loan by the deceased’s husband. But they were told that the man was not at home.
Not pleased with the woman’s explanation, the bankers decided to pack all the electronics in the house to their office and the deceased resisted.
While she was struggling with the bank officials to get back her husband electronics, one of them pushed her and she fell down and became unconscious.
Vivian Omo was rushed to nearby hospital for medical attention but was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
The statement reads, “The report was quickly lodged at Agbado divisional headquarters by the daughter of the deceased. Consequently, the DPO, Agbado division, CSP Awoniyi Adekunle, quickly led his detectives to the scene where four staffs of the bank, Badmus Olalekan, Ajibade Oludare, Eniola Aduragbemi and Femi Oloko were arrested.”
He added: “The CP has warned loan agencies to stop taking laws into their hands in the process of recovering loans from their customers, as anyone caught in such act will be arrested and prosecuted.”
