“Lobby INEC” – APC chieftain and ex-minister gives fresh update on how to win elections [VIDEO]

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Solomon Dalung, has taken a swipe at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the conduct and outcomes of polls in the country.

In a recent interview seen by Politics Nigeria, Dalung, who served as minister of sport during former president Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure, alleged that INEC and the Supreme Court have changed the meaning of elections in the country.

Dalung further advised politicians seeking to run for elective positions to lobby the electoral umpire in order to secure their victory.

“The Supreme Court has reconfigured democracy in Nigeria with that landmark judgement, election in Nigeria now means INEC,” Dalung said.

“If you want to contest election in Nigeria, you have to lobby INEC; you have to go to INEC, according to the Supreme Court.

“That even if INEC makes bye laws to regulate elections, they are at will to jettison it even by midnight and declare anybody [as winner] and you cannot hole them accountable.

“I think politicians should understand that there is now a radical departure from the meaning of elections in Nigeria,” he added
