London arrest: Why Peter Obi should sue FG – Atiku’s camp

Daniel Bwala, an aide to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, on Friday asked Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, to ‘sue the Nigerian government in court and compel them to smoke out the impersonator of the former Anambra State governor’.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Bwala accused the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) of issuing Obi’s passport to the alleged impersonator.

“One fact is clear, the impersonator was issued the passport by the Nigerian Immigration. They have his bio data and details about him. Peter Obi should sue the Nigerian government in court and compel them to smoke the man out and whoever may be using him for the smear campaign,” Bwala wrote on his known Twitter handle.

Recall that Obi was last week detained in London by the United Kingdom (UK) immigration officials for alleged impersonation.

The 61-year-old was harassed by London immigration officials and placed in detention where he spent the Easter holidays.

A statement released by the Labour Party explained that the high implication of the offence is that the impersonator could be committing all kinds of weighty crimes and other dubious acts and it would be recorded in Obi’s name.

The party emphasised that since the impersonator is still at large, the scenario is unimaginable as Obi could be implicated in a series of forbidden acts and even be framed in a manner that could be a huge embarrassment to him, his family, his party, the Obedient movement, and Nigeria, where he currently and remains the conscience of the people.
