Tolulope Philips, the Labour Party’s House of Representatives candidate in Abeokuta South Federal Constituency in the 2023 election, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Philips, who was received by the PDP leadership, including former governorship candidate Hon Ladi Adebutu, joined the party alongside hundreds of his loyalists.
Speaking at the party secretariat in Abeokuta, Philips expressed regret over his time in the Labour Party, citing a lack of progress.
Philips said, “I realized that my time in the Labour Party was not yielding the desired results. I am hopeful that my move to the PDP will bring about the change I desire.
“I am thrilled to be joining the PDP family. I am confident that this is the right decision for me and my supporters. I am grateful to my loyal supporters who have followed me to the PDP. I promise to work tirelessly to ensure that their trust in me is not misplaced.”
He promised to work tirelessly to ensure victory in the 2027 election.
He said, “I am confident that in 2027, the PDP will be victorious in the elections. I am eager to get started and make a meaningful impact in the lives of my constituents.”
Hon Ladi Adebutu, welcoming Philips, him to channel his resources towards progress in the PDP.
“We will run PDP together in love till we get the goal. I advise Philips to stop wasting his money and join the PDP for progress. Imagine the number of votes he wasted in that election.”
