LP leadership crisis: Onanuga Reveals Apapa’s Plan to Withdraw Peter Obi’s Petition

Bayo Onanuga, the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, has shed light on Apapa’s plans to withdraw all of the Labour Party’s cases against Bola Tinubu’s election victory.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Apapa, who controls Labour Party affairs by court order, has ordered LP lawyers to brief him on Peter Obi’s petition within 48 hours, sending chills down Obi and his lawyers’ spines.

Onanuga wrote: “Bashir Apapa, the man who controls Labour Party affairs by the order of the court asks all LP lawyers to brief him about Peter Obi’s petition within 48 hours. The order will send chills down the spines of Obi and his lawyers as Apapa wants all cases withdrawn. Interesting times!”

This latest development puts Peter Obi’s election petition in jeopardy, after Justice Hamza Muazu of an Abuja High Court ruled on Friday that Lamidi Apapa is the acting chairman of the Labour Party until May 19th.

Apapa had previously written to the Presidential Election Petition Court indicating that the party was withdrawing its case. After the court ruling, Apapa declared himself in charge and directed all party lawyers handling the election petition to brief him on the processes within 48 hours.
