Former Senator representing Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, Shehu has reacted to the attack on the office of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) on Thursday night.
POLITICS NIGERIA had reported that unknown persons broke into the NFIU office and destroyed computers containing certain vital and sensitive documents.
It was learned that the attack on the NFIU office happened after the Presidential Panel probing the suspended acting EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu asked for the transaction history of a Kaduna-based Bureau de change (BDC).
It was gathered that the documents on the computers could help in the ongoing investigation of Magu, who is being accused of financial malfeasance.
The Director-General of NFIU, MModibbo Hamman-Tukur, had since reported the incident to President Muhammadu Buhari who approved Magu’s suspension Friday afternoon.
Reacting to the incident, Shehu Sani wondered how thugs got access to the NFIU building which is within the vicinity of the heavily fortified Presidential Villa.
He wrote: “NFIU is within the vicinity of the heavily fortified Villa, how did ‘armed thugs’ got access?”
