A public affairs commentator, Mahdi Shehu has slammed the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, for lying to Nigerians in the diaspora that the days of hunger and hardship are over in Nigeria.

In a post made on X, Shehu urged Nigerians in the diaspora to ignore the Senate President and not be deceived by his claims.

Stating that about 139 million Nigerians are facing visible hunger, Shehu said Akpabio is not being truthful to those in diaspora, especially on the true situation of things in Nigeria.

He also said that currently, there are a total of 60 million jobless and unemployed youths with over 30 million children facing severe malnutrition all over Nigeria.

“Nigeria’s debt stock is N170 Trillion and still counting. Come back home at your own risk.

“Refresh yourself on the sayings of the Lord regarding mischievous leaders who made lying a trade and deception a permanent culture,” Shehu wrote on X.

Also quoting a few verses from the Holy Bible, the political analyst alleged that the Senate President’s “mouth is full of lies and threats; trouble and evil are under his tongue”

In addition to that, he quoted Ephesians 5:6, which reads, “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.

“Jeremiah 9:6, “You live in the midst of deception; in their deceit they refuse to acknowledge me,” declares the LORD,” he added.

Recall that the Senate President had urged Nigerians in the diaspora to return home. Akpabio while making the call claimed that there have been visible changes across the country.

While convincing Nigerians abroad to come and join in the process of rebuilding the country, Akpabio also claimed hunger and economic hardship have vanished from Nigeria while insecurity has become a thing of the past.

However, the Senate President’s call has been met with outrage and criticism with several Nigerians both resident in the country and in the diaspora noting that they cannot be deceived by his political gimmicks.
