Man allegedly kills father over money for hard drugs in Rivers state

A yet-to-be-identified man in his 20s has reportedly killed his father for failing to give him money to purchase hard drugs in Rumuagholu Community in Obio/Akpor Council of Rivers State.

The Guardian reports that there was an altercation between the suspect and the deceased pastor in the early hours of Friday.

According to the report, when the argument heightened, the suspect used a mortar pestle to hit his father, leading to his death.

A neighbour, who explained the ugly incident, said they heard the suspect and his father arguing but later discovered that the boy had used a mortar pestle to hit his father.

The source said the boy, having been apprehended, claimed that his father refused to give him money to buy hard drugs, which led to an argument that made him angrily hit his father with the weapon.

The boy has been handed over to men of the Rumuokoro Divisional police station.

Confirming the incident, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko.

He added that the man has been arrested, and an investigation is ongoing.
