May 29: Ignore Programme of Events in Circulation – Presidential Transition Council Urges Nigerians

Transition council dismisses programme of event in circulation

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, has dissociated the Presidential Transition Council (PTC) from the presidential inauguration programme of events circulating online.

Politics Nigeria recalls that a programme of events, including time details for the presidential inauguration ceremony circulated on the internet on Friday, May 5.

The fake programme of events contained details including “valedictory exco meeting” scheduled to hold on May 18, and a “National Assembly proclamation” scheduled to be the last event of the inauguration on June 5th.

However, the SGF while reacting to the programme of event in circulation in a statement released on Saturday by his Director of Information, Willie Bassey, said the presumed leaked programme was fake and shouldn’t be given serious attention.

The statement noted that “Various approved events for the inauguration would be held from the week commencing on May 22.”

According to the statement, the original order of the programme would be unveiled on May 18.

He further stated that “The inauguration committee of the council has reached an advanced stage in its preparation for the peaceful and orderly transfer of power on May 29.”

The transition council approved by President Muhammadu Buhari on February 9, is chaired by the SGF with other members including the head of the civil service of the federation, solicitor-general of the federation, permanent secretary of the ministry of justice, permanent secretaries from the ministries of defence, interior, finance, foreign affairs, and information, and other government officials.
