A former Trustee of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Yekini Alamu Otegbeye, is dead.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Alhaji Otegbeye, who is also the Special Adviser to the NURTW National President, Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa, died on Tuesday aged 70.
The deceased is a key ally of the Chairman of the Lagos State Parks and Garages management committee, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo.
This newspaper learned that before he breathed his last on Tuesday morning, Otegbeye had been hospitalised since last week for an undisclosed illness.
A statement signed by the Treasurer of the Lagos State council of the NURTW, Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle, confirmed Otegbeye’s exit.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajiun. I mourn the passing of a father Alhaji (Chief) Abdulyekeen Alamu Otegbeye.
“May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and make Al Janah Fridaos be his final abode.
“I pray Allah comforts his family, friends and associates at this trying period.
“Allah will give the family the fortitude to bear his loss,” Adekunle said.
Late Otegbeye has been buried at his residence in Orile Agege, in accordance with Islamic rites.
MC Oluomo and some of his associates were present at the funeral.
