A mentally derailed man identified as Badejo Adewale on Thursday, January 9, set poured petrol on a man, Bolatito Farook Kadara, at Hogan Bassey Street Surulere and ignited it.
The case was reported at about 0708hrs by one Adeola Kadara, the sister of the victim who resides at No 13 Aiyeleto Street Surulere reported the incident at Surulere Police Station.
According to Adeola, she received information that her brother was set ablaze and was taken to Lagos Island General Hospital.
Police detectives later visited the scene and proceeded to the hospital, where the victim was recuperating.
Bolatito, in a statement made to the Police, narrated his ordeal in the hand of the mentally derailed man.
The Police later proceeded to the psychiatric hospital Yaba where the suspect is admitted as part of their investigation. They couldn’t interview him as he could not utter a word.
They also said an investigation is ongoing on the incident.,
