Some chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have dumped the party to join All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State.
The PDP members those who held various positions during the eight years of former governor Olusegun Mimiko’s administration.
They include a former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mrs Jumoke Akindele; a former Chief Press Secretary to Governor Mimiko; and three former members of the House of Representatives: Joseph Akinlaja, Victor Akinjo, and Chief Alaba Ojomo, among others.
The politicians moved from PDP to APC ahead of the November 16, governorship election in the state.
A statement jointly signed by the 29 defectors and titled ‘We Have Joined the APC’, said they decided to join the party after a series of consultations and discussions.
According to the defectors, there is a need for them to be part of a clear effort to reposition our state on the path of continuous prosperity and peace among many others.
