After a rowdy session at the Senate and a quick visit to Aso Rock Villa by Senator Godswill Akpabio on Monday, August 7, Festus Keyamo and 44 other ministerial nominees were cleared and confirmed.
This has put to rest the tension and seeming rancour that ensued during Keyamo’s screening at the red chamber on Monday.
Reacting to this, the immediate past minister of state for labour and employment via Twitter shared a video where the Senate President Akpabio cleared him as a minister of the federal government.
Keyamo captioned the video with the phrase – “For the records”.
Meanwhile, the name of the immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai, was conspicuously missing from the list of nominees confirmed by the upper chamber.
This has raised concerns among Nigerians about why his name was excluded from the list.
Also missing on the list was the name of Senator Abubakar Danlandi from Taraba State and former Nexim Bank senior staff Stella Oketette (Delta state).
After the screening exercise, which took place about them a week, the Senate approved and confirmed a total of 45 out of the 48 nominees sent by President Bola Tinubu.
A couple of petitions, including those sent by Senator Sunday Karimi (APC, Kogi West) were presented against the former governor during the screening.
During the ministerial screening, the senator representing Kogi West moved against the former Kaduna State governor.
