The wife of Abbas Haruna, a Nigerian Navy officer who was allegedly detained for six years said that her husband has been ejected from the barracks.
Hussaina Iliya while speaking on the Brekete family, an Abuja-based radio programme anchored by Ahmed Isa, said her husband was unjustly dismissed after his long detention and has now been evicted from the military barracks.
Accusing the Nigerian Navy of detaining Abbas since 2018, Hussaina said a senior officer, Brigadier General AS Adamu had ordered her husband’s detention and torture.
Her allegation which caused an uproar led to an order from the Minister of Defence and the Chief of Defence Staff for an immediate investigation.
Following the investigation, the DHQ announced that its probe shows that Abbas was never arrested as claimed by his wife.
Subsequently, a viral video released on social media showed some officials of the military in an attempt to disarm the seaman leading to several releases of gunshots.
Speaking further on Brekete Family Radio, Abbas and Hussaina confirmed he has been released.
Hussaina said “I will be with him no matter the situation. They have discharged him. He was ejected from the barracks.
Also reaffirming her love for her husband, the seaman’s wife said, “I love my husband. I love him.”
