A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, on Saturday blamed the national grid collapse on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that several Nigerian cities including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) were thrown into darkness on Friday after the national grid collapsed again.
Electricity distribution companies announced the breakdown, the fifth in 2022 after prolonged hours of outage experienced in some parts of the country.
This newspaper recalls that a similar grid collapse occurred twice in March 2022 at a time when the country was in a severe fuel crisis. The others happened in January and February this year.
The Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu, blamed the constant collapse on poor maintenance and shortage of gas. But for Igbokwe, the blame should be put on the opposition, the PDP.
“PDP sold our electricity distribution companies to contractors and traders without knowledge, expertise, character to manage power sector. See where we are today,” Igbokwe wrote on his known Facebook page.
