NCoS addresses rumours of inmates’ inappropriate sexual activities in Yobe prison

The Yobe State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service has debunked rumours circulating that inmates have been engaging in inappropriate sexual behaviour due to a weeks-long blackout in correctional facilities in the state.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that in a statement released on Monday by ASC Haruna Isa, the Public Relations Officer for the Command, the report was labeled as “unpatriotic” and “malicious” as it aimed to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in the custodial centers.

The Command stated that it is concerned about the power outage at the facilities and has taken measures to address the issue.

“There is no sexual activity going on in any of the correctional formations across the command.

“Obviously, the said malicious report was intended to mislead the general public”, he maintained.

“Media outfits are enjoined to always verify their reports before going to the press and members of the public are also advised to disregard the report in its entirety”, Isa advised.
