There would be crisis if the North retains presidency – South South elders declare

South South elders have declared that there would be crisis in the country if the North is allowed to retain the presidency in 2023.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure would end in 2023, and Southerners expect the seat to rotate back to the geopolitical zone.

According to the elders, it is logical and fair to allow the zone to produce the next president so it can complete its second tenure.

This was disclosed by the national coordinator of the South South Elders Forum, His Highness Anabs Sara Igbe in a conversation with Vanguard. He said the zone is better placed in the South for Presidency in 2023.

According to him, the North may not be comfortable supporting a South Eastern candidate because of the civil war and the fact Ndigbo are still bitter over the alleged marginalization of the zone.

Speaking also of the South West, he argued that the North will not support them judging from the position of the Miyetti Allah on the recently launched security outfit, Amotekun.

Sara Igbe reasoned that that leaves the South-South as the logical choice and stabilizing force as it will have the support of the South-East.

Igbe, who doubles as the national publicity secretary of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) ended by saying that both the South East and the South West are interested in restructuring of the country and not the 2023 presidency.
