As the 2023 election approaches, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Lagos State, Olusegun Agbaje, has rubbished the allegation of partisanship being leveled against him by Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that in a recent statement by his Special Assistant (SA) on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said it was curious that Agbaje was insisting on using the Lagos State Park and Garage Management Committee, headed by transport kingpin, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, who he said was a member of the presidential campaign council of All Progressives Congress (APC).
Reacting, the Lagos REC told Punch in a report published on Saturday: “I don’t have any agreement with Oluomo, I don’t know Oluomo and I have never met him in my life. Whoever is saying that should come out and tell us more about it.
“So, anybody calling for my resignation is just wasting time. Nobody can distract me from doing my job.
“I am responsible to the INEC chairman and members of the committee in Abuja, so all these are just distractions.”
You dont need to have meet oluomo, but you know Tinubu. Again, INEC must understand that an average yoruba believes he is first and foremost yoruba before anything else. So, someone that have this kind of mentality will be difficult to be neutral in anything that requires neutrality.
The late Zik of Africa originated it and not a Yoruba man. Get your facts right.
We are not talking of meeting Oluomo in life or not, we are talking of your compromise particularly as regards Tinubu. You are both working for the same principal. When he was used to harass voters in Osun rerun that brought Oyetola, you didn’t know him then but the end justify the means at that time, because you were both aiming same goal, so don’t give us that thrash. The honorable thing to do if you have integrity is to ask for redeployment to save your name.
