The Director of New Media for the Bola Tinubu/Kashim Shettima Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Femi Fani-Kayode, on Tuesday, said Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, intends to ‘drive the masses to rage out of frustration’ and incite a revolution with his Naira policy.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the CBN fixed February 10th as the deadline for the exchange of the old naira notes; N200, N500, and N1000.
Scarcity of the new naira notes is still being experienced as Nigerians are unable to get cash from counters in banks in many parts of the country.
Reacting to the development, Fani-Kayode said in a Twitter post: “Emefiele has weaponised the CBN and is an enemy of democracy.
Emefiele has weaponsed the CBN and is an enemy of democracy. The policy of cancelling old notes must be totally cancelled until AFTER the election and then done lawfully. He wants to cause a crisis, provoke a people’s uprising, derail our democracy and pave the way for an ING. 1/

“The policy of cancelling old notes must be totally cancelled until AFTER the election and then done lawfully. He wants to cause a crisis, provoke a people’s uprising, derail our democracy and pave the way for an ING.
“He has NO plans to release enough new naira notes any time soon. He wants to STARVE the people of cash and drive them to rage out of frustration.
“This is not about politics but about stoking up protest and revolution. This is subversion and destablisation. He must be stopped and caged!”
AFTER AN ABSURD UNECCESSARY GRANDSTANDING!
One would have thought he is above the law. Emefiele has plunged Nigeria into an avoidable economic crisis.
HE SHOULD HAVE DEFIED THE LEGISLATURE AND DISCOVERED HOW IT GOES
This country is in trouble how come we can no longer access our hard earned money to do business, its so frustrating, this policy is hitting hard on the masses and not the rich politicians
