Niger coup: ”Do not drag us to war”- Rhodes-Vivour warns Tinubu

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party (LP) gubernatorial candidate in the last governorship election in Lagos, has spoken on the Niger Republic unrest.

In what could read as a warning to the federal government on Thursday, August 10, Gbadebo said Nigeria should not use military intervention on its neighbour over the stance of the coup plotters.

He warned that if the Nigerian government insists on its proposal, citizens and Nigeriens will bear the brunt, especially the northern region.

He said it would eventually be an unpopular, anti-people, pro-west imperialist war if dialogue is not followed.

His words:

“Do not drag us to war! Nigeria and Nigerians will bear the full brunt of this unpopular, anti-people, pro-west imperialist war. Most especially Northern Nigeria, which is dealing with enough problems already.

“Dialogue and diplomacy are the only ways to go, especially as it was a bloodless coup.”
