Niger State Governor Umar Bago has dissolved the State Independent Electoral Commission.
Recall that Umar Bago of the APC defeated Isah Liman-Kantigi of the PDP to secure the governorship position.
Meanwhile, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abubakar, in a statement on Sunday, said the dissolution was with effect from May 29.
“Members of the commission are directed to hand over all property of the state government in their possession to the most senior Director with immediate effect,” the statement stated.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Niger State House of Assembly had, on September 27, 2022, sacked the Chairman of NSIEC, Alhaji Baba Aminu, over alleged misconduct.
