The Concerned Northern Forum has demanded the arrest and prosecution of the former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, for allegedly deceiving Nigerians over the Nigeria Air project.
The call comes days after the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation described the Nigeria Air project as a fraud.
The committee also demanded the Federal Government to suspend the airline.
The chairman of the Northern group, Ali Muhammad, in a statement on Thursday, urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to arrest and prosecute Hadi Sirika.
“Sirika acted with so much impunity and operated as a tyrant who never listens to anyone because aviation experts and airline operators of Nigeria had advised against the project,” Muhammad said.
The group described Sirika’s action as a national embarrassment, waste of resources and a charade.
Politics Nigeria had reported that the Managing Director of Nigeria Air, Dayo Olumide, said the purported Nigeria Air aircraft that landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on May 26, was a chartered one from Ethiopia Airlines.
The Nigeria Air MD made the revelation during his questioning from senators.
