The Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, and 25 other Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) are set to be disconnected over outstanding electricity bills.
Politics Nigeria reports that the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) on Saturday issued warning to the 27 MDAs.
The electricity company threatened to disconnect their power supply by Monday, June 3, if they fail to settle their debts.
The power company, in a notice, also listed the Kogi State Government, and Niger State Government among others, as defaulters.
The notice reads: “This is to inform the general public that AEDC will disconnect all customers with outstanding electricity bills on June 3, 2024. Timely payment of electricity bills is crucial for the continued operation and enhancement of AEDC’s infrastructure, ensuring we can deliver efficient and reliable service to our community.”

The AEDC’s warning comes a month after the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission approved a 300% increase in the electricity tariff for Band A consumers to ensure sustainable energy distribution.
