The Nigerian government on Tuesday signed seven Memoranda of Understanding with Brazil during the Nigeria–Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism (SDM) at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
The MoUs were signed on behalf of the two countries by Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima and Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin.
Stanley Nkwocha, the media aide to the vice presisent said the event was witnessed by Nigerian Governors, ministers, heads of government agencies and departments, and members of both the Nigerian and Brazilian diplomatic corps.
The MoUs signed during the SDM are to deepen cooperation between the two nations across various sectors, including defence cooperation, economy, power and energy, culture, foreign relations, health, and others.
He said that the MoUs were signed after Shettima revived Hia Brazilian counterpart and his wife, Maria Lúcia Alckmin.
Other delegates received by Shettima include members of the Brazilian delegation at the State House Conference Centre.
Alckmin was received alongside Nigerian governors, ministers, presidential aides, and members of the Nigerian and Brazilian diplomatic corps.
The strategic dialogue between the two nations is aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and exploring areas of mutual cooperation between Nigeria and Brazil.
He also said that the three-day event will provide a platform for President Bola Tinubu’s administration to tap into new investment flows, facilitate technical cooperation, and open pathways for enhanced strategic engagements for businesses.
