Nigerian Army kills 5 Boko Haram in fresh Maiduguri battle [PHOTOS]

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri, Borno State killed five Boko Haram terrorists and recovered 500 rustled rams in Jere Local Government Area (LGA).

POLITICS NIGERIA learnt that on Tuesday afternoon, a distress call was received that terrorists have attacked some herders and rustled thier domestic animals.

Consequently, the Theartre Commander’s Special Response Squad were dispatched to confront the terrorists in the axis of the Cashew plantation in Jere LGA.

The team intercepted the terrorists at their possible exit route, engaged them in a fierce gun battle, neutralised five of them, and recovered about 500 rams and other items stolen from locals. The retrieved animals were handed back to their owners as troops escorted them to a safe location.

The Boko Haram insurgency began in July 2009, when the militant Islamist and jihadist rebel group Boko Haram started an armed rebellion against the government of Nigeria.

When Boko Haram’s insurgency was at its peak in the mid-2010s, it was the world’s deadliest terrorist organization, in terms of the number of people it killed.
