Nigerian Army’s female corporal clinches gold at world military wrestling championship [VIDEO]

Corporal Hannah Reuben, a distinguished member of the Nigerian Army, has secured a remarkable gold medal at the 36th World Military Wrestling Championship, which is currently underway in Azerbaijan.

Representing the Armed Forces of Nigeria in the women’s 76kg event, Reuben showcased exceptional skill and determination to claim the prestigious gold medal at the Military Wrestling Championship, marking a significant triumph for Nigeria on the global stage.

The Nigerian Army, through its verified X handle, shared a brief video on Saturday highlighting Reuben’s outstanding achievement at the championship.

It was noted that Reuben had previously earned a silver medal in the women’s 76kg event at both the 2022 and 2023 African Wrestling Championships, showcasing her consistent prowess in the sport.

Expressing her gratitude, Corporal Reuben extended appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, and other service chiefs for their unwavering support in ensuring the participation of Nigerian Military wrestlers at the esteemed 36th World Military Wrestling Championship.

Acknowledging the robust preparations leading up to the tournament, Reuben praised the provision of essential logistics, emphasizing that the comprehensive support played a pivotal role in enabling the team to excel internationally.

Her words:

“I want to thank the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, and other service chiefs for ensuring wrestlers in the Nigerian Military attended the 36th World Military Wrestling Championship. The preparations for the tournament was top notch because we were provided with all the necessary logistics to excel.”
