
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced the passing of Solomon Ehigiator Arase, the 18th indigenous Inspector-General of Police and former Chairman of the Police Service Commission.
Arase died on Sunday at Cedarcrest Hospital, Abuja, after a brief illness. He was 69.
Confirming his death in a statement, the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the news was formally communicated to the current Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, by Arase’s first son, Mr Solomon Osabohien Arase Jr.
IGP Egbetokun paid a condolence visit to the family in Abuja, where he conveyed sympathies on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force and described Arase’s contributions to police reform and national security as indelible.
In his tribute, IGP Egbetokun described Arase’s death as a “deep pain” to the Force, praising his professionalism, bravery, and leadership.
