A notorious bandit leader, known as “Baƙo-baƙo,” along with his fighters, was neutralized on Thursday during a clearance operation conducted by Joint Security Forces in Batsari Forest, located in Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation was carried out by troops of the Nigerian Army, the Police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Katsina Security Watch Corps.
Under the cover of dusk, the forces advanced into the bandits’ stronghold and engaged in a fierce gun battle.
Overwhelmed by the superior firepower and strategic coordination of the combined forces, “Baƙo-baƙo” and his men were neutralized.
A local community leader in Batsari described the operation as a major step towards restoring peace to the area.
“This is a huge step towards restoring peace to our villages. We commend the troops for their efforts and sacrifices. We are thankful for the sacrifices and efforts of the security forces in bringing peace to our region,” the leader said.
Baƙo-baƙo had long been a target of security agencies due to his involvement in violent attacks and kidnappings that terrorized numerous communities in Katsina State.
