Nigerians can’t expect magical solution to epileptic power supply, Tinubu warns

President Bola Tinubu has said that it is impossible to expect magical response or solution a to the electricity challenges faced by citizens across the country.

The President while during the visit of German President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the Presidential Villa on Wednesday said that the power infrastructure on the country is old.

Tinubu’s remarks on the epileptic power supply faced by Nigerians came at the tome when Nigeria experienced her 12th national power grid collapse since the beginning of 2024.

He further stated that although Siemens Energy is effortlessly working to improve the situation on the country , the decade-old power infrastructure is a major challenge.

“Nigeria, being a nation in a hurry, wants a magical response. But don’t forget, those transmission lines are about 50 to 60 years old.

“The snags are what we are trying to improve and reduce the possibility of problems. We are doing that. I’ve signed a reform that decentralised the power distribution and generation in the country,” Tinubu said.

He also assured that various states and sub-nationals are doing their best to generate their own power.

He also encourage the deployment of alternative energy to address this challenges.
