The Executive Vice-Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Babatunde Irukera has reacted to his dismissal by President Bola Tinubu.

Irukera and his counterpart in the Bureau of Public Enterprises, Alexander Okoh, were sacked on Monday.

Writing on his X page, Irukera, a former Managing Partner in a law firm, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve Nigerians.

His words: “Grateful for the opportunity to have served the incredibly vibrant and loyal Nigerian citizens/consumers. They deserve a better deal.

“I leave behind a strong Institutional advocate in the FCCPC and an outstanding team of soldiers who work there daily for the cause of fair markets.”

Irukera was appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari as director-general of the Consumer Protection Council (CPC) in April 2017 before the agency was renamed FCCPC.
