A former presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu has said that Nigerians must remain alert to the antics of the old politicians who pretend to be oblivious to the challenges faced by the people.
Speaking on TVC’s This Morning on Tuesday, Kachikwu said feigning ignorance is Nigerian politicians’ stock in trade.
The 2023 presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) while condemning the politicking currently building up in the nation’s polity said the present administration has abandoned governance.
“The people have got to see clearly through what’s going on. They should see clearly through the shenanigans of politicians, especially desperate old politicians.
“They should see through what they’re doing. They should know that Nigeria is bigger than the ambitions of these old men, and they should know that Nigeria is worth fighting for,” Kachikwu said.
Alleging that Nigerian politicians act like gods, Kachikwu said it is still two years to the next election and political permutations are already in play with governance abandoned by leaders.
He said, “I believe that men act like they are gods. A whole two years before the elections, all sorts of permutations are in play — all sorts of things are happening. We’ll see the same old playbook again happening in Nigeria.”
On the part the opposition played in ousting Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, the 2023 presidential candidate said, “They set an agenda for him. So essentially, it’s to get people disenchanted with the government of the day; for people to say the government of the day is not working or doing anything.”
“And then there’s this big buildup going into the elections. This is the same thing we’re seeing today. But like I said yesterday, you can’t fool the people two times,” he added.
