Nigerians on Twitter Attack Hope Uzodinma over Bad Roads in Imo

Residents of Imo State have expressed disappointment with the performance of Governor Hope Uzodinma since he assumed office.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the governor ascended to power after the Supreme Court nullified the election of Emeka Ihedioha, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and declared Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the rightful winner of the March 9 gubernatorial election in the state.

Ihedioha had garnered 273,404 votes, surpassing his closest rival, Uche Nwosu of the Action Alliance, who received 190,364 votes, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) results.

The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ifeanyi Ararume, secured the third position, with Hope Uzodinma of the APC trailing behind.

The apex court’s pronouncement declaring Uzodinma as the winner drew widespread criticism, raising doubts about the credibility of the judicial institution and earning the governor the moniker “Supreme Court Governor.”

Recently, Twitter users have unleashed a barrage of criticism against Governor Uzodinma, highlighting his perceived lacklustre performance despite assuming the governorship through a court order—a move that many consider a questionable means to government.

The comments from the Twitter community gained momentum when one user, @FS_Yusuf_, drew attention to complaints from Imo State residents aired on Arise News. These complaints centred on the poor condition of the state’s roads, which adversely affect businesses and the daily activities of the people. @FS_Yusuf_ questioned Governor Uzodinma’s accomplishments over the past four years, igniting a wave of responses.

Among those contributing to the discussion was a user named Gigi Hadidn’t, who claimed that the governor, who is expected to contest the upcoming gubernatorial election on November 11th, has done little besides parading around in an armoured tank and an extensive fleet of cars as part of his convoy.
