Nigerians slam Abba Kyari after Hushpuppi ratted him out

Thousands of Nigerians have taken to social media in reaction to Hushpuppi’s indictment of celebrity cop, Abba Kyari.

Politics Nigeria reported that Hushpuppi, an Instagram celebrity, who has been under probe in the United States (U.S.) since last year (2020), for cybercrime offenses, confessed to bribing Kyari following the conclusion of a $1.1 million scam deal.

Hushpuppi disclosed that he paid bribes to Kyari, who’s one of the most decorated police officers in Nigeria.

Hushpuppi, as seen in the court filings, confessed to bribing Kyari to have one of his rivals, Kelly Chibuzor Vincent, arrested and jailed in Nigeria following a dispute over the $1.1 million fraud that victimised a Qatari businessman.

Hushpuppi asked Kyari to arrest and jail Vincent after both were locked in a dispute presumably over how to share the proceeds from the fraud. This was after Vincent contacted the victim and informed them that they were being scammed by a syndicate involving him and Hushpuppi.

According to Hushpuppi, Kyari sent pictures of Vincent in jail and subsequently sent his bank account number to which a wire transfer should be made considering that he fulfilled the task shouldered on him.

Explaining to members of the public what actually transpired, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), said it was true that he influenced the payment of N300,000 from Hushpuppi, but it was for the payment of clothes he ordered for.

Kyari said he introduced Hushpuppi to a cloth seller whom Hushpuppi paid about N300,000.

The Nigerians, who have reacted to the DCP’s response to Hushpuppi’s allegation, however, expressed disappointments in him.
