Senator Shehu Sani has cautioned Nigerians who are clamouring for a coup to happen in the country.
The former lawmaker said Nigeria’s democracy was redeemable; hence coup shouldn’t be a topic to debate about.
His comment comes after the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) dismissed the possibility of a coup in Nigeria.
Politics Nigeria gathered that the DHQ assured Nigerians that the military was happy with the country’s democracy.
However, Sani ruled out the possibility of a coup in the country, stressing that the struggle for a just, equitable and more prosperous society could still be won within the context of democracy.
Sani shared his thought via his official Twitter handle, saying:
“Our democracy can still be redeemed or refined. The struggle for a just, equitable and more prosperous society can still be won within the context of democracy.
“Our countrymen, please stop advocating, soliciting or inciting a coup in Nigeria.”
