President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Senate to confirm Professor Ayo Omotayo as Director-General (DG) of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).
The request was contained in a letter read on Tuesday during plenary by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.
The Special Assistant (Press) to Lawan, Ezrel Tabiowo disclosed this in a statement.
Buhari’s letter reads, “In accordance with the provision of Section 5 subsection 2 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies Act 2004, I write to present for confirmation by the Senate, the appointment of Prof. Ayo C. Omotayo as Director-General, National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).
“The nominee’s CV is attached herewith.
“It is my hope that the Senate will consider and confirm the nominee in the usual expeditious manner.”
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Prof. Omotayo used to be a Lecturer at the Lagos State University (LASU). He was the youngest to have attained the position of Senior Lecturer at LASU. In 1995, he left for the United States as a foreign national scholar to the Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. He also shared his time with the Murray State University across the border at the State of Kentucky at the time.
He has authored several papers in the field of fluvial geomorphology, hydrology and the sustainable environmental development generally. He also authored a book on statistics.
