Activist and former Spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Deji Adeyanju has debunked rumours that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu is dead.
Adeyanju, in a statement on Tuesday morning, disclosed that the embattled Kanu is ‘alive and well’. POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that rumours spread like wildfire on Monday after the secessionist leader could not appear in court for a continuation of his trial.
Kanu jumped bail in 2017 and was re-arrested in June 2021 after being on the run for 4 years. He was to appear before Justice Binta Nyako on Monday morning but could not due to ‘logistics issues’.
Adeyanju revealed that although Kanu is still alive, he was being subjected to ‘Inhumane treatment’. He wrote;
“Nnamdi Kanu not dead or killed by DSS but they are subjecting him to inhumane & degrading treatment.”
“This is why his lawyers must insist he should be transferred to the Correctional Centre in Kuje.”
This newspaper gathered that Kanu’s application to be transferred from the custody of the Department of State Security Services, DSS to Kuje prisons was turned down by Justice Nyako.
