Nnamdi Kanu reacts to Army invasion of S/East communities

The weekend’s invasion of two communities in the South-east region by Nigerian troops is “a sticking point” for Nnamdi Kanu, detained leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), POLITICS NIGERIA learned.

Two neighbouring communities: Orsu-Ihiteukwa in Orsu Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo State and Orsumugho, a community in Ihiala Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State, were invaded on Saturday by military operatives who reportedly killed two people and set many houses and shops ablaze.

Video clips sighted by this newspaper showed burning shops and motorcycles.

The attack comes barely three weeks after troops invaded Orsu-Ihiteukwa, killing three residents.

The military authorities would later claim the three people killed were IPOB members.

In the latest attack, the troops were said to have invaded Orsu-Ihiteukwa again with numerous combatant vans and armoured tankers.

This newspaper learned that the operation was carried out in collaboration with members of Ebubeagu, a security outfit backed by the Imo State Government.

Proving an update on Kanu’s legal team’s routine visit to the IPOB leader who is in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja, Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to the proscribed separatist group, said Kanu is not pleased with news at all.

“Update: I just exited from seeing Onyendu #MNK (referring to Nnamdi Kanu). He sent his usual goodwill message to all.

“The spiraling extrajudicial killings in SE (southeast), especially the latest in Orsu was centre stage and it’s a sticking point for him. Enough said,” Ejimakor wrote on his known Twitter handle on Monday afternoon.
