Abiodun: FG owes Ogun ₦300bn

Speaking while hosting members of the Igbobi College Old Boys’ Association, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun said the Federal Government owes the state over N300 billion as part of the funding for rehabilitation of federal roads across Ogun.

Governor Abiodun complained about the depressive state of most of the federal roads in Ogun. He claimed that a sum of N13 billion was needed to reconstruct the failed portions of the Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta expressway and another N62 billion to fix the entire road.

“The Federal Government is owing Ogun State over N300 billion for the various federal roads we have constructed so far,” said Abiodun. “Concerning the Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta expressway, when the engineers were asked to assess the road, they put the cost of reconstructing the failed portions at about N13 billion, while the sum of N75 billion will be needed to reconstruct the entire stretch of the road. Our state does not have such amount of money.”

While speaking about his achievements in governing Ogun for the last two and a half years, the governor claimed his administration had significantly improved education, health, agriculture and road infrastructure in the state.

“A business promotion agency has also been established for seamless business relationship between government and investors”, Abiodun continued.

Governor Abiodun also requested members of old students associations such as Igbobi College Old Boys Association to help the state government in reforming the education sector.
