Simon Ekpa, a self-styled disciple of Nnamdi Kanu on Biafra restoration has vowed that Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), will regain his freedom soon “to continue leading the struggle until Biafra is restored”.
Recall that in late June, Kanu, a Nigerian-British citizen, was arrested in Kenya by the East African country’s security operatives and he was transferred to Nigeria where he will face trial.
Kanu’s arrest has sparked anger among Biafran separatists and other Nigerians supportive of his cause. The World Igbo Congress (WIC) declared the arrest “illegal abduction and international gangsterism” while Kanu’s legal team led by Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor and Aloy Ejimakor described their client’s capture as an “extraordinary rendition”. Following his arrest, questions had been raised over what was termed “Kanu’s disregard of the Nigerian constitution” to abscond bail in 2017. On the occasion of his arraignment in court on 29 June 2021, Kanu told the presiding judge that the Nigerian military forced him to flee the country in 2017. Presently, he is in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Ekpa in a Facebook post on Monday reiterated his unflinching loyalty to controversial Kanu, while also reaffirming he is focused on achieving a Biafra nation.
The diaspora-based Biafra separatist was primarily reacting to an allegation made against him that he demanded that IPOB-run Radio Biafra be handed over to him. According to him, he has “no reason” to demand such.
“This will be my last post on this issue!
“I have more pressing issues to deal with.
“My move to solve whatever anybody have against me prove abortive. On the 15th August 2021 I approached HDOS with love wanted to talk, he snubbed me. On the 19th August 2021, I approached HDOS wanting to talk, he responded and never get back to me. My service is to Biafra and I am loyal to Onyendu, he will be out soon to continue leading the struggle until Biafra is restored.
“I am Simon Ekpa, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s Disciple on Biafra Restoration. FOCUS!” Ekpa wrote accompanying his update with WhatsApp chat conversations with Chika Edoziem, the Head of Directorate of State (HDOS) of IPOB.
