The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) on Thursday, August 15, said that the September 28 Local Government Council chairmen and ward councilors elections will hold as scheduled.
The chairman of ANSIEC, Genevieve Osakwe, while speaking stakeholders’ meeting in Awka said the date is sacrosanct and cannot be changed.
Osakwe urged all political parties in the Anambra to commence campaigns as she assured that the exercise would be free, fair and credible.
According to the ANSIEC chairman, the electoral body had considered the security situation in various parts of the state.
She also said that the Anambra LG elections would take place in all the 326 electoral wards and all the results would be collated, counted and announced from the electoral wards.
