Northern Group Advises Tinubu Against Appointing Badaru, Other ‘Failed’ Govs

Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the aegis of the Northern Progressives Union (NPU) have advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against appointing immediate past northern governors as ministers in his cabinet.

The stakeholders particularly name-called former Jigawa state governor, Mohammed Badaru, as one of those who the president should stay away from.

In a statement signed by Mohammed Kiyawa on Monday, the group maintained that the group noted that the former governors were “failed politicians, disgruntled leaders and spent forces”, who do not fit into the Renewed Hope mantra of the Tinubu administration.

They argued that their demand was legitimate as some former governors were accused of being moles who worked against the party during the 2023 general election.

The NPU accused some former governors of not spending the money disbursed to them for the election and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) outspent them hence they got considerable low votes in the region “when the APC should have won by landslide”.
